OpenAI has launched GPT-6 Astra, calling it its most capable model yet. The model is designed to go beyond generating text and can perform complex tasks involving computer use, coding, research, mathematics, cybersecurity, and professional workflows.
The standout capability is computer use. Astra can interact with software interfaces much like a human- navigating websites, working with spreadsheets, filling forms, and completing multi-step workflows rather than simply telling users what to do.
OpenAI is positioning Astra as a step toward the "AGI era." The company has also classified it as its first model to reach its Critical cybersecurity capability threshold, leading to additional safeguards and a controlled rollout for some higher-risk capabilities.

NVIDIA Just Made a $13B Bet on Open AI

NVIDIA has agreed to acquire Hugging Face for approximately $12.93 billion, making it one of NVIDIA's biggest acquisitions. Hugging Face has become a major hub for open AI models, datasets and developer tools.
The deal gives NVIDIA a much deeper position in the open-source/open-weight AI ecosystem. Hugging Face currently serves millions of developers and hundreds of thousands of enterprise customers, giving NVIDIA access to a huge community building and deploying AI.
NVIDIA says Hugging Face will remain an open and compute-agnostic platform, meaning developers will still be able to choose their models, frameworks and computing platforms. But the acquisition raises an important question: can a platform remain neutral when it is owned by the world's dominant AI-chip company?
