Small shipments of Nvidia's H200 AI accelerators have reportedly reached mainland China, marking a significant development in the US-China AI technology race.
According to reports, ByteDance and Tencent have each received around 10,000 processors in recent weeks. The United States has authorized individual Chinese companies to purchase as many as 100,000 H200 chips, although actual shipments remain far below those levels.
China is also encouraging companies to use the chips outside mainland China, with Hong Kong emerging as an important location for deployment. At the same time, Beijing continues pushing domestic alternatives as Chinese AI companies work to reduce dependence on foreign hardware.

SpaceX Rocket Leaves a New Mark on the Moon

NASA has released detailed before-and-after images of a new lunar crater created when a SpaceX Falcon 9 upper stage crashed into the Moon on August 5, 2026. The rocket stage had been drifting through space for more than a year after launching two commercial lunar missions.
The impact occurred at roughly 5,400 mph, creating a crater approximately 60 feet wide and less than 10 feet deep. NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter captured detailed images of the site from about 60 miles above the lunar surface.
The images show dark and bright streaks spreading from the crater. Scientists can use the impact to study lunar soil, material beneath the surface, and how high-speed impacts affect the Moon.
